Our Mission
On August 5, 2018, Daziah T. Crawford was killed as a result of a high-speed chase in a residential neighborhood. It was a national news story. The family has turned pain into purpose. The foundation was created in May 2019. Our focus is on Daziah's interests which were performing arts and journalism. Research has shown these majors, in particular performing arts, are critical to our society. Did you know that performing arts is often the first budget that’s cut from schools (from elementary to college) when funding is low? The foundation provides scholarships to qualifying high school seniors and college freshmen. We used 2019 and 2020 to educate ourselves on being a non-profit, create awareness, and build funds for scholarship awards. In 2021, we gave our first scholarship award. We're in the process of providing support through mentorship, workshops, and great networking opportunities. Our goal is to increase our award amounts until we’re able to provide full scholarships and we won't stop until we do.
